Zone 3: Critical Load (Score 300+). At Zone 3, the Holmes-Rahe research found that approximately 79% of people in this range experienced a serious health change within two years. Zone 3 doesn’t always feel like a crisis. Some people at this score have adapted to such a high baseline that the load no longer registers as unusual — it just registers as who they are. What does register: a persistent inability to recover, body composition that feels unresponsive to effort, cognitive performance that fluctuates significantly, and a motivation pattern that swings between driven and barely functional.
